How to Make Butter Coffee Without a Blender (Solution – Milk Frother)

Follow these simple steps for making butter coffee without a blender. Whether you are traveling, on the go, or just in a hurry, this how-to-guide will help make your life a whole lot easier.

A Step-By-Step Guide to Making Butter Coffee Without a Blender:

We all love that delicious, frothy cup of energizing Butter Coffee in the morning. It wakes us up. It makes us feel good inside. It makes us hate Monday’s a little less.

For some people, Butter Coffee was an instant hit. You were immediately hooked on the endless energy, the lack of cravings, and the feeling of fueling your body with nutritious, healthy fat. For others, it has slowly crept it’s way into your heart . At first you said “Butter…in coffee??

What!”, and now you feel like you couldn’t live a day without it. Whether you were an instant fan or a slow converter, you still know one thing, Butter Coffee can be a lengthy, and often messy task!

First you brew the coffee, then you measure out the ingredients, then you get out the blender. Then you turn on your industrial strength, 16,000 RPM blender only to find that your previously sound asleep children are now awake and screaming; ultimately resulting in the need to repeat the process to make another 12 oz of extra strength, high powered coffee to deal with the now awake and screaming children. Its a mess. Stop it!

ENTER A SOLUTION:

You don’t like screaming children. Neither do we. Put away your high powered blender and follow our suggested steps.

1: Brew your favorite coffee. We suggest a high quality light or medium roast when making butter coffee because dark roast can mask a lot of the great flavors. Buying freshly roasted and ground coffee is the best way to ensure a delicious cup of coffee every time.

Our favorite brand to make butter cofee with is Koffee Kult Medium Roast. You can find it here, available on Amazon Prime for $18.99 (1lb ground).

2. Combine all ingredients in one cup. We suggest using all or a combination of the following ingredients:
– Grass fed Butter or Grass fed Ghee
– Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
– MCT Oil (preferrably C8, trusted brand here)
– Flavoring (Vanilla, Cinnamon, or any combination)
– Sweetner such as Stevia or Xylitol

Depending on your preferences, you can add a few or all ingredients. Make sure to get butter from grass fed source and organic if possible. A high quality MCT Oil will also increase the effectiveness of coffee. You can also find products like PowerCreamer that combine all of these ingredients in one

3. Use a Milk Frother or a Hydro Flask Canteen to blend or shake.

The milk frother is a super simple and mess free way to get that frothy top to your Butter Coffee without a blender. Just combine the coffee and ingredients (butter, coconut oil, etc…) into a mug or tall cup. NOTE: Leave roughly 2 inches of unfilled space in the mug.

Next, you submerge the frother into the coffee. Angle the frother with an upward facing tilt. This will insure that you pull air down into the coffee to help whip the ingredients together.

Turn on the frother and move it up and down, periodically breaking the surface of the coffee to whip air into the mixture.

Continue for 15-30 seconds until the ingredients are blended and there is a frothy head to the coffee. The whisk will whip the ingredients and blend it into the coffee.

For a similar blend, pour your coffee directly into a vacuum sealed Klean Kanteen or Hydro Flask.

Add the ingredients into the flask and seal the lid tightly. Shake vigorously to blend the coffee together to create a delicious Butter Coffee latte. (Caution: be careful when opening the lid, excess pressure can cause hot liquid or pressurized air to shoot out and cause burns). Release the pressure of the canteen slowly. Be sure to choose high quality products:

Choosing a high quality frother:  A quality frother can be purchased for around $15. The frother should be well built, have a powerful motor, and be easy to clean.  Check out our other article: 5 things you should look for when buying a milk frother
Choosing a high quality canteen:  We recommend this one here.  The canteen should be double walled with a strong cap able to withstand shaking and pressure. CAUTION: when shaking a canteen with hot coffee, it can create pressure and cause hot coffee to be spilled. Be sure to release pressure periodically as you shake the canteen.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE:

Blending butter coffee with the handheld electric milk frother is simple. Just follow the steps below to ensure your coffee turns out to be a delicious frothy butter coffee.

THE RESULTS (AND TROUBLESHOOTING):

Although it won’t be as well blended as a traditional high powered blender, you should end up with a frothy, thick foamed latte. If mixed well the butter coffee will be a uniform color and consistency.

If it wasn’t mixed well it may separate out, leaving you with a layer of oil on the top portion of the coffee.

If this happens simply repeat step 3, being sure to move the frother up and down, breaking the surface of the coffee. This will ensure that you are pulling air down into the coffee to create the whipping effect.

This whipping effect will help blend the ingredients into the coffee, creating a more uniform consistency.
